Single line reefing...Does it work?

In Yachting Monthly, Martin Watts writes a fairly in-depth article about Single line reefing. Definetely worth a read but my only comment is that it doesn't quite go far enough. There is little integral strength in some of the elements in these solutions shown in this article. Single line reefing is still not a reliable solution. One still needs to go to the mast, and the clew to ensure it is working.

Call me for simple, strong, effective, quick reefing solutions.
