PRIVACY STATEMENT

On successful completion of your RYA Day Skipper course, or your RYA Yachtmaster™ course, your name, contact details, date of birth, certificate number and date of issue will be shared with the RYA through a secure web portal on www.rya.org.uk. The data will be stored on the RYA’s central database. This information allows the RYA to record your qualification, to update any records they may hold for you, and to verify or replace your certificate if required. On successful completion of your RYA Day Skipper course, or your RYA Yachtmaster™ course, your name, certificate number and date of issue will be stored for up to seven (7) years. This information allows us to verify or replace your certificate if required.
Names and addresses of candidates for RYA courses will be shared with the RYA for the purposes of registering your certificate.

The above information including the questions as to your health and ability will be used by us to process your booking for the course and for attending to your safety whilst you are on one of our courses.

Photographs and videos may be taken of course participants, with their permission, by Yachting Directions staff for promotional and other materials.

RISK WARNING
This RISK WARNING is issued by Yachting Directions pursuant to the Civil Liability Act 2002 to all RYA and other practical sail training course participants.
1) Participants are warned that regardless of the precautions, which might be taken by reasonable and experienced persons, sailing can be a dangerous pursuit and participants are exposed to significant risk of property damage, physical harm and possibly death.

As an indication, these risks may include, but are not limited to:

The extremes of weather and sea conditions.

The sudden movement of the vessel at any time and the possibility that participants may fall or be thrown overboard, resulting in drowning.

The possibility that participants may be injured by equipment on the vessel.

The absence of immediate medical care and the likelihood that significant delays may occur before medical care is available.

Exposure to the elements for extended periods.
2) Yachting Directions also warns participants, that regardless of their best intentions, they may be unable to render assistance to participants who are in distress. Participants are warned to consider the above risk and other risks before deciding to participate in any sailing event or course with Yachting Directions.
STUDENT DECLARATION
Student declaration: I have read and understood the above Privacy Policy and Risk Statement and declare that to the best of my knowledge I am fit to participate in the course and acknowledge the risks associated with participation.
